What to do with this wild fabric? I decided it was a little overwhelming to wear as a top (my original plan) so it became a skirt. With all those world monuments to look at, a simple style was all it needed. This New Look pattern includes a jacket, tank top and pull-on skirt. I bought it for the jacket which I haven't made yet but I've used the skirt several times. It is a close-fitting column which fits very smoothly at the top. No extra puckering. It takes about 30 minutes to sew up including fitting time. I left the bottom unhemmed which is a look I spotted on some of these funky fabrics out there in the stores. Since it doesn't fray, just pick your length and cut evenly. Topstitch the side slit and it is done. |
