I found a printed moleskin in my stash that harmonized well with my Salsa Blouse. I've been wanting to try the Loes Hinse Gore Skirt and figured that a flared skirt would work with the blouse. I had intended to do view D but that takes a lot more fabric because of the shaped panels so I cut view E with straight panels and 4 gores. This way I had enough fabric to make a jacket also. The skirt is quite simple to make as other reviewers have pointed out. The sizing seems to be true to the measurements as listed. I didn't make any alterations except to shorten the length by 3 inches which is not unusual for me as I am 5'3". I think this is a great pattern appropriate for beginners. The instructions are adequate although a bit minimal. It will work with a great variety of fabrics for different looks. One thing I particularly like about this skirt is the way the gore seams line up with the princess seams on my jacket. In a different fabric this could be highlighted with topstitching or piping for a nice vertical design element. |
