I had tried this dress on at a Loes Hinse class in November and it fit and flattered so I bought the pattern. I searched eagerly through my stash to find an appropriate fabric and chose this black ottoman knit. The ribs ran across the width so I cut the pattern on the crossgrain so the ribs would run up and down my body. I didn't really want crosswise lines to widen me more! It is very simply shaped to skim the body. I know another reviewer added darts and curved the seams in more to fit her more closely. But I felt the looser line was slenderizing on me. I made the small size with no alterations except to make 1 inch hems (instead of 2 inch). The dress is super easy to make. Shoulder seams, sleeves sewn in flat with very little easing, finish edges of neck, turn and stitch, and side seams. Finish with the hems. The only complaint I can think of is that the instructions are minimal to the extreme. A beginner may need a little extra help. I stabilized the shoulders with seam binding and used fusible bias tape to prevent stretching on the neckline and hems. I would love to find a beautiful cashmere knit to use to make this dress.
