I nominate this pattern as my favorite for beginners. It has only two pattern pieces and two seams. Then you just turn under the remaining spots twice; armholes, neck, and hem, and stitch. Very quick and you have an elegant dress. I cut it as a small on the very top and medium at bust and hips. My dress is a piece of wool jersey, long in my stash. I had to work around a few moth holes! It felt great to use an old piece of fabric and have it go together so quickly. My friend made this twice. The first time the knit was very light weight and sheer. She had to make a slip to go under it. The fabric was too light for the cowl to drape properly. The second time she made it she used a nice medium weight rayon knit in black. It worked perfectly and looks terrific. The second time took her under an hour for the entire project. |
