Tahoe Sewing Retreat

I'm back from the incredible sewing retreat. We all sewed as though possessed, from day break to midnight. Barbara and I were always the last ones in the sewing room at midnight, but never the first in the morning I must admit. Others were there sewing by 6 am. We made the 8 am breakfast, took 30 minutes for lunch and dinner and sewed all the rest of the time. Maybe 14 hours a day for 4 days plus another evening. We brought our walking shoes but never left the building. Well, once we left to go to the nearby fabric store for zippers and buttons. But that was it.

Most of the group of 32 sewing fanatics were quilters. Maybe 7 or 8 others produced some clothing. But since we were cranking out one garment after another some started to referring to us as the Project Runway girls. And we did crank them out. I sewed 10 garments. I think Barbara did a similar amount. Some projects were quick but others were much more time consuming than I thought they would be. I think I'm not usually aware of how much time each project takes because the work is done over a few days. When you work nonstop you become more aware of the time spent.

Everyone really enjoyed the retreat and all said they want to come back next year. I sure hope I can. Here are some photos to give you an idea of the event.

Ten garments! Wow! Sounds like a fun - and very productive - retreat. When do we get to see the results?
