Pattern Rating:I would definitely sew this pattern again

I made this dress a year and a half ago but I see that a review has been requested. So here it is. I will try to remember pertinent details...

I had ordered the fabric from an online source and was quite alarmed when it arrived as it was quite a lot brighter green than I thought it would be. But since it was a nice linen I decided to make it up anyway, using it as a trial for the Sandra Betzina sizing which I had not used before. I cut it out in the size B at the neck and shoulders and size C at bust and hip. My measurements at the bust are actually size D but the flat pattern measurements indicated plenty of ease. I shortened the overall length but that was the only alteration. No need for the usual full bust alteration.

The dress sews up quite easily. I would call it easy to sew except for all the button holes and the extra details at the collar and cuff. These are actually very easy and straight forward and well described. I left off the tie in the back.

When I had it almost complete, I tried it on and felt it looked boring in spite of the overly bright color. So I set out to find cute buttons. After all, there are so many, they make a statement. I was delighted to find these green daisies but they were a bit large. The buttonhole required for them would have been unattractively large. So I just sewed them in place and sewed snaps behind. No buttonholes after all.

I was wary of wearing this at first because it seemed so bright to me. But everytime I wore it, I received compliments. It makes a fun and comfortable dress. The detail at the pocket, collar and cuffs makes it have a slight retro flavor.
