Simplicity Pattern Information

Pattern Information provided by Ann Smith

Pattern Rating:I would definitely sew this pattern again

Update 2/22/04 I have made another version of this top, View D. I modified it a bit to suit my needs. Not wanting my belly to show as in the picture on the pattern, I added 1 inch to the center front and pulled up the gathering a bit less. The center front is ruched by inserting ribbon or cord in the channels created by topstitching the seam allowance. You just pull this up and tie it in a bow that you can have show at the neckline if you like. I prefer it tucked in. I also eliminated the gathering on the sleeve as I felt that was just too much for me.

Pattern Description: This is a pattern for tops with 6 different views, sized for stretch knits.

Pattern Sizing: Sizes 4 through 20, 4 included in each pattern.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The twisted bodice takes a moment to understand how to do it but it is well described in the instructions.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The sewing is easy, the style attractive and a little different. I disliked that no mention was made of techniques necessary for the knit fabrics suggested such as stabilizing the neckline.

Fabric Used: Animal print soft knit with 2 way stretch.

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I added on at the side seams for full bust. This is a little confusing because of the pattern shapes but made clear by Gigi in her review.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I like this top. It is a tiny bit low cut for wearing just anywhere but is a flattering style.
